Meet the Team

Meals on Wheels is a name familiar to Australians and is at the heart of many communities. It represents helping hands, teamwork and looking out for each other. It is all about people in the community joining forces to help others.

Our aim is to make it possible for elderly and frail people to stay in their homes and keep their independence
Whether it be a friendly face calling by to drop off a nutritious meal, transport to an appointment or social interaction, our team know we’re making a difference.

Peter English
Service Manager

No two days are the same for Peter. From settling in new clients, recruiting volunteers, managing staff, organising rosters, liaising with government/media, making sure everyone is happy and even doing the odd hot meal delivery. Peter and his team are caring, compassionate, genuinely interested in helping clients and making sure they’re ok.

Nicole Shanks
Administration & Accounts Officer

Nicole is often the voice on the other end of the phone when you ring. She looks after accounts, clients and suppliers, and answers client and volunteer queries. Nicole creates brochures and client newsletters keeping everyone up to date. Sometimes after making sure the office is run smoothly,  for a bit of variety Nicole can be seen delivering frozen meals. One of the things she most loves in her role is checking in with clients.

Tash May
Client Liaison Officer
When new clients come on board at Meals on Wheels, Tash will often be the first person they meet. Spending time getting to know each new client, Tash works out how the team at Meals on Wheels can best support them. And when she comes back to the office, Tash organises the services to be provided.

For hot meal delivery clients this means reworking the vehicle delivery route used by volunteers to deliver meals in the shortest amount of time (safely). It’s all about getting the hot meal to it’s destination while it’s hot!
“I love my job - getting out and about meeting new people. Some of the stories clients tell about their lives is incredible. I love helping people and working in a great team.” Over time things change so for existing clients Tash will re-assesses what services they’re receiving and find out changes they’d like. Tash also co-ordinates volunteers, making sure they’re settled in well and keeping them up to date on Meals on Wheels news via the volunteer newsletter. And in her spare time Tash can be seen sneaking a quick picture and message up on Facebook to keep Meals on Wheels friends updated on the latest news.

Rachel Condon
Client Support Officer

Rachel’s role is diverse and she loves it!  In amongst everything else Rachel schedules meal deliveries and delivers frozen meals to Narromine and Trangie (from Frank’s well stocked freezer).  In the kitchen Rachel makes sure meals are in the right order for volunteers so each client receives their meal hot. Rachel loves working at Meals on Wheels Dubbo in such a supportive team.
